My country is burning,
it’s burning with pain, agony and ache.
It’s burning with hearts and souls of citizens.
It’s burning with displaced and distressed families.
It’s burning with little expectation and faith put on hold.
It’s burning with a million questions
Who to blame
Who to hold responsible?

Then again,
My country is also burning with flames of love.
of kind support.
of courage;
courage found in hundreds of volunteers who risk their own safety to help.
Some are putting down the fires, others providing food and water.
Some opened their homes to welcome those who lost theirs.

This is a salute to all the unsung heroes
Who give selflessly.
Where there’s action, there’s hope
Wishing my beloved country and its people a safe recovery.
Let us all pray for a forever united Lebanon.
