Let’s agree to disagree😉! When I was younger, I used to live by the mantras and advices of others. My opinions were easily shattered by seemingly wise words beautifully sculpted by those who imposed their views over dinner tables and social outings.
When I was younger, I was a major “happiness procrastinator”. I would always try to save the most beautiful moments for the day I would actually have time to enjoy them. I would put life in all its reality on a shelf and convince myself that one day, when I’ve checked off all the boxes, I will start to live it. I’ve always said life is a marathon, but it’s a marathon on a pace of a Kenyan Champ😁That’s a pretty fast pace I tell you!
When I was younger, way younger, I would get yelled at when someone older is speaking, and I that’s how I learnt the art of listening.
Unlike other kids, I took the time to understand what others were saying, what trees were whispering and what birds were humming. And I waited, patiently, for my turn to speak.
Young no more, I still listen, but I will no longer be silenced.
Young no more, I welcome your opinion, but I will state my own.
Young no more, I no longer put my life on a shelf, and I completely dusted it off.
Young no more I agree that although we might agree on some things, we will definitely disagree on others
And you know what? That’s completely ok.
It means we have lived, experienced, loved and lost.
It means we survived, laughed and cried one too many times.
It means we’re human.
The sooner we realized it, the better we feel
And the more equipped we get to run this marathon of ours on no other pace but our own.
And so I run🏃🏽♀🏃🏽♀🏆🏃🏽♀
